Seeking is not a sprint but a marathon

Now in post #5, if you were expecting this present series of posts on the Holy Spirit to be a shortcut to God's power operating more evidently and more often in your life then you are probably already disappointed. Let me say this. God doesn't give us 3 steps to this promise or 7 steps to this miracle. I'm not saying He has never given someone steps to take in their pursuit of Him. But His intention is not for you to learn about Him. He wants you to connect with Him.

The closest Jesus came to teaching a formula is The Lord's Prayer. But does anyone really believe Jesus wants us to memorize a prayer to recite back to Him? Jesus was merely trying to help the disciples, and us, get started. He wants us to simply converse with Him. There are no secrets. He is very open about His desire to hear from us constantly. Prayer, conversing with God, is a very personal pursuit. There is more on this in last Sunday's sermon (5/1/16) which you can listen to at http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/church-2911.

And just like there is no formula for prayer, there is no formula for God's power. So let's take our time in pursuing God.

The power of God is not given to the seekers of God's power. It is given to seekers of God.

As a side note, today is National Day of Prayer. We should not expect congress and the president to take the lead here. We are the church. This is ours.
