are you scheduled today?

i hope you're not off today - i hope you're scheduled - on God's schedule

what we think of as interruptions are often appointments scheduled by God

as in the life of Jesus - he was constantly interrupted - while teaching in someone's house four men tore off the roof - dropped their crippled friend right in Jesus' lap

once when Jesus was returning from a ministry trip - i'm sure He was tired - probably just wanted to get home - have a good meal - get some rest - sleep - He was interrupted by a leader of the synagogue whose daughter was sick - he wanted Jesus to come heal her - and Jesus agreed to go with him - and on the way to this interruption a lady who had been sick for years came up behind Jesus and grabbed his robe - she wanted to be healed also - an interruption of an interruption

but were they really interruptions? - maybe God scheduled them - maybe that's really what all interruptions are - divine appointments - and maybe God has you on His schedule this week, too

God has some of us scheduled to encourage a waitress this afternoon

others are scheduled to buy someone's lunch this week - or sit with the outcast at lunch

you may be scheduled to share an encouraging word in a small group - or standing in line at WalMart - or to help someone get their groceries to the car - or babysit for a single parent - take donuts to a shut-in - the more i think about it - and the more people i see in need of encouragement - the more i believe you really are scheduled today
