every once i a while i tease my church - i give them just enough of a story to - hopefully - get them to look it up on their own - a couple weeks ago was one of those times - and i wondered how many went home and read it
in the sermon i told the story of 1 samuel chapters 3 & 4 - and i challenged everyone to read the next story - it's only 5 verses - but it is an awesome example of what God does to our enemies! - in those 5 verses God embarrasses the enemy's false god - and in his own house - the very temple they had built for him!
the enemy of God's people thought they had won - they "captured" the ark of God - they placed it in their temple - right in front of the idol statue they called dagon - they were giving their false god credit for helping them beat God - and God appears to go along with it - for a little while
