getting down to the foundation is step one in building a great marriage - clearing off all the rubble that has built up over the years of your life takes time - and effort - but the job isn't done yet
"for no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ." 1 corinthians 3:11
now it's time to build on it - heed the advice of verse 10 - "each one should be careful how he builds"
you can still build a shack on a great foundation - i don't know why anyone would - but that's the point - you have an awesome foundation - Jesus! so build accordingly
verse 12 points out there are precious things you can use to build your spiritual house with - or you can use cheap things - the important question isn't what you built with yesterday - as long as you've cleared the foundation again - but what are you building with today? and what do you choose to build with tomorrow? here are a couple "gems" to build with
and where do you find these precious things? i like doing a little woodworking in my spare time - and i am always looking for a resource for good materials - good plans are important too - the best place to get info like that is - can you guess? someone who has already been there - and done that
and where do you find help with marriage resources? exactly - find a couple who has been married longer than you and has a great marriage - ask them if they would consider mentoring you and your spouse
and join a marriage/family enrichment small group - you need the encouragement - your spouse does too - and you both need the fellowship - and you'll find precious resources there too - for example - all of the "gems" above came from the materials used in various small groups at 29:11 - so join a small group - i'll bet there's a good one close by
