we say we don’t judge a person’s spirituality by external
things – but it’s just hard to not look at someone worshipping robustly and
think “man, they are close to God”
so let’s remember 1 john 4:1 – here we are told to test the
spirits to make sure they are of God – we are further warned to do so because
there are many false prophets out there trying to deceive – the greek word for
spirits in this verse is the same one used in acts 2 – which should make us all
– especially we pentecostals – pause a moment – think – and consider what God
is trying to tell us – and heed the warning
stop putting emphasis on
externals – or you'll be deceived – the emphasis should be on the internals that grow external fruit!
a true relationship with God isn’t determined by how loud i
worship on Sunday – but how i speak on Monday – (read verse 2
for clarification)
it’s not how many people i know at church – but how many people
in my life know that i go to church
not how well we play on the church stage – but how we pray
in the world’s battlefields
my relationship isn’t measured by how high i jump in church –
but how straight i walk in the community
we will never have to worry about external things if the internal things are right!
Again, thanks.
