Just given three ministry opportunities! So heads up 29:11 family.
1. Elderly couple 20 minutes north of Mt Olive (Bremen), has been without power since tornadoes. They spent their check this month on gas for a generator. Need food desperately. They share the small generator with neighbors so they cannot cook, even in a toaster oven. He is dying with cancer, in his last days I am told. I plan to get some food together for them tomorrow morning and take a hot lunch but they will need more food and gas until their power is turned on. So the best help now is a financial gift, or 5 gallons of gas or a box of ready-to-eat non-perishable food. If you would like to help in other ways, please let me know.
2. Family in Cordova lost most of their possessions and their place to live in tornado (they were renting). They have a place they can move into but need lots of help getting it ready. There is some construction work, wiring and plumbing to be done as well as cleanup. We are going Saturday morning to assess the contruction needs. We may need to raise some funds for that as well.
They have two daughters (17 & 19) which are ok on clothing but the parents need gift cards for clothes. If you want to help with repairs, cleanup or gift cards, contact me.
3. A family of 9 is needing a place to live - the children are age 14 & below. If you know of something available in the 78 corridor general area, please let me know.
I am waiting on more information about this family but they need clothes and each kid needs one good toy. They dont have a room or toybox to keep them in right now but from my experience in helping with disaster relief, the little girls need a doll to carry around, the boys need a model car or something that is "theirs" that can give them some sense of normalcy and promise that life is going to get better. So as soon as we have that info it will be posted.

ReplyDeleteWe would like to get some gas for the older couple and I am sure we have toys that we can give.
We also have a large downstairs area that is not currently being used that a family can use for a bit if they need to just finish the school year without having to struggle to find a place.
