purple sunday - march 27

some have asked - so in case you missed it here's the backstory - several years ago my cousin shared with me how one sunday his pastor told his church he needed to make the following announcement

so many people seem to attend church every other week - some come the 1st & 3rd sundays of the month - he called these "red" families - others come the 2nd & 4th sundays - those he called "blue" families

they decided to change things up a bit - beginning the next month - the 1st & 3rd Sundays would become blue sundays - the 2nd & 4th would be red - he reiterrated - make sure you understand - he didn't want anyone to come on the wrong sunday - they might run into someone from their church they had never met before!

that's funny - unless you're a pastor - it can be exasperating at times - when you never know how many will show up on a given sunday - it's hard to plan seating - parking - for kids & nursery - hard in a lot of other ways too

my cousin's story got me thinking - we need to have "purple sunday" - a day where reds and blues come to church on the same sunday - reds and blues together make? purple!

so the color itself is a sign of our unity - our togetherness - and this sunday is the perfect day for "purple sunday" - the week after spring break - a great time to reconnect and recommit!

so be here Sunday - our goal is 100% attendance - don't be the one missing red or blue family
