commandment #4

exodus 20:8 remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy

it's been said this is the only one of the 10 commandments that isn't repeated in the new testament - so that means...

not what you think - remember Jesus said He didn't do away with the law - the old testament - not even one bit - Jesus said He came to fulfill it - to complete it - the old testament was limited in so many ways

for example - the sacrifices could not completely take away sin - only one man could go into the most holy place - only once a year - and the veil - remember it? it always stood in man's way of drawing closer to God - and a special day of rest was observed as being holy to the Lord - in other words a day of honoring Him - just one day a week

but Jesus completed all of that for us - His blood takes away all our sin - now anyone can come into the very presence of God - anytime - anyday of the week - or year - no more veil either

and no longer is a day of our week set apart to be lived for Him - now every day is our sabbath - every day is a day we are to experience His rest from the burden of sin! every day is a day we honor Him - and not just partially - our honoring Him is complete - with everything we are!

today as a continuation of our commitment to God's Word read the chapter found at the link below - it is a great display of what our daily sabbath should now be - it begins with the prophet isaiah's awe of God and His awesomeness - seeing God like that will always produce repentance as it does with isaiah - and repentance brings forgiveness and cleansing from God - which causes us to want to serve Him in some greater way - that is complete worship!
