exodus 20:17 you shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s
basically it says you're not supposed to covet anything that's not yours - but God does list some interesting items there - so surely there is some importance to them
your neighbor's house - where he lives - how he lives - so keeping up with the joneses is a no-no in God's eyes
your neighbor's wife - nor female servant - his household - his family - not only should you not lust after another person's spouse which is the same as adultery in your heart - don't even be jealous or envious of his family - better to work harder on your own
your neighbor's ox - or donkey - those things that he worked his fields with - in other words his job - don't covet it either
but just to make certain - God says "nor anything"
and it's not simply wrong to covet just because it creates bad feelings between you and someone else - you are also offending God - coveting what you don't have - instead of being thankful for what you do have - you are basically telling God He hasn't done enough for you
so be content with what you have - but pray and believe God for opportunity and strength to earn anything - everything you need
