about a liter of wine - that's what this part of the offering was - a liter of wine poured out to God - symbolic of Jesus' blood which was also poured out - for anyone who wants forgiveness
Jesus said in mark 14:23 "this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many"
the pouring out wasn't wasting the wine - it was sacrifice - when poured out on the altar it was totally given away - lost to the previous owner - no one could ever drink it - or even hold it again - a true sacrifice is given in such a way that it can never be recalled - or recovered
2 timothy 4:6 for i am already being poured out as a drink offering...
the apostle paul wrote that - he was talking about giving his life - it was over - he belonged to God - and the final drops of his life were soon to be given up - or poured out
so today's challenge - the final one in this week of chasing God - you knew it would have to be deeper than the first four - today's challenge is for you to offer a measure of sacrificial worship - to God
sacrificial means it has to cost you something - and it has to be totally given - beyond hope of recovery - and you should not see any blessing from it yourself - buying someone lunch so they will appreciate you doesn't count - you're getting something back in return
so what can you give God? sacrificially? what can you give Him that He would accept? as worship? as honor?
this one is tougher - it will require more than just reading this message - it will require some thought - some heart - some - well - sacrifice
