gather a bundle

the harvest feast - families were to bring a bundle of barley - the priest would wave it in the air for God to see - a very symbolic offering

barley - the first grain of the year to come ripe - it was considered not as good as wheat - but it was first - there is much symbolism in something being first - especially when you offer it to God - there is profound faith in offering your first - for example if you give God the first lamb - until a second lamb is born your stable is empty - giving the first is trusting God to provide more!

this bundle of barley that was to be brought to God was to be from the first of the barley (leviticus 23:10) - it couldn't just be of the first grain harvest - it had to be of the first ripe grain of the first grain harvest - the first of the first - the best of the best - stretching your faith - proving your confidence in God - to yourself as well

and it was to be public - this offering was not placed in an offering bag so no one could see if you gave a dollar or a twenty - the priest waved it for God to see - and everyone else for that matter - that's because it wasn't about the amount - everyone brought a bundle - it was not so much an offering - definitely not a tithe - it was more a testimony - of God's blessing on the family - and a testimony of the family's gratefulness for God's blessing

so here is your challenge for today - find a way to let someone know - let someone see - let someone take notice of how good God has been to you - tell someone close to you at work - or school - tweet or post - relate a story of when you didn't - when you couldn't - but God could - and He did!

don't let it be a show of how much you have - make it a show of how good God is - and how glad you are for His goodness!
