another example why you don't put your brain on autopilot - conversations with god sounds like an awesome book - and no doubt many feel the edition for teens would be the perfect gift for their child - or an upcoming graduation gift - but never - ever - never give a gift with spiritual direction or supposed spiritual wisdom without examining it - and never recommend it!
but oprah recommends it - another example of why you don't put your brain on autopilot - she basically follows new age
the author of this book - and sadly several others - walsch even has his own "new golden rule" - he has his own re-creation foundation which seems to attempt to re-create all we know about god - lower cased "g" used on purpose - since he is not using God's Word in answering these questions - he actually answers these questions in an anti-Biblical tone and with a new age message - you're ok i'm ok
in his own words walsch invites us to "embrace a new notion about ourselves and about life: not that there's nothing left but god, but that there's nothing but god...see god in every other person and in every other thing...treat everything and everyone as if it, she, or he is divine"
so his "god" is everything and everyone - i would probably believe the same thing if i based my theology on all these spiritual texts he claims to have studied since he was 15 - besides the Bible - the rigveda - the upanishads - divine revelation according to sri ramakrishna - who?
be careful who you follow - with the internet we will have more and more people espousing their personal beliefs as fact - and more of us will blindly follow thinking it has to be true if it is online - but you can - and should - use it as a tool - before you think about buying a book or recommending one to somebody you should at least take time to google the author's name - do some research - and never give a kid or teen something you aren't absolutely sure is solid and Biblical
