is it time? yes, it is time

in the book of haggai chapter 1:

in the second year of king darius, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came by haggai the prophet to zerubbabel the son of shealtiel, governor of judah, and to joshua the son of jehozadak, the high priest, saying, "thus speaks the Lord of hosts, saying: 'this people says, "the time has not come, the time that the Lord's house should be built." ' "

why would they say that? why would they postpone building God's house?

they could have said that if God had said it – but He didn’t – as a matter of fact, He said the opposite

then the word of the lord came by haggai the prophet, saying, "is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, and this temple to lie in ruins?"

they said it wasn't time to build God's house simply because they didn’t want to – but why?

when you aren’t doing God’s will, it really doesn’t matter why – their home – their time – their enjoyment – a 'bless me' attitude – there are no legitimate excuses

they excused themselves from doing God’s will so they could enjoy their own will – they skipped building His temple so they could enjoy their own lives – yes, we are new testament, not old testament – so the symbolism here would be that we excuse ourselves from getting His temple ready – today, His temple is the church – us! – we're not what He means us to be - not yet anyway – so...

we can't afford to just enjoy things as they are – it’s time to go to work!
