the early portions of psalm 78 speak of israel - they turned their back on god’s plan
56 yet they tested and provoked the Most High God, and did not keep His testimonies,
57 but turned back and acted unfaithfully like their fathers; they were turned aside like a deceitful bow.
58 for they provoked Him to anger with their high places, and moved Him to jealousy with their carved images.
we can't nitpick over god’s plans - a relationship with God is not a buffet - we can’t pick & choose sections we like and turn up our nose at others - once we decide to step out, we have to follow God all the way to the promise, the dream!
james 4:8 says, “draw near to God and he will draw near to us” – so what does God do when we withdraw from him? He withdraws from us you say? wrong answer because He constantly calls to us - He even corrects us - anything He can do to try and get us to return to Him - but he always stops short of forcing Himself or His dreams on us
look what God did when israel turned their back on his plan, his way for them:
59 when God heard this, He was furious, and greatly abhorred israel,
60 so that He forsook the tabernacle of shiloh, the tent He had placed among men…
God forsook His own house - the one He Himself had chosen!
but thankfully, He doesn’t leave us to our ways forever!
65 then the Lord awoke as from sleep, like a mighty man who shouts because of wine.
66 and He beat back His enemies; He put them to a perpetual reproach.
67 moreover He rejected the tent of joseph, and did not choose the tribe of ephraim,
68 but chose the tribe of judah, mount zion which He loved.
69 and He built His sanctuary like the heights, like the earth which He has established forever.
excellence is about doing things in the right way - not halfway - not haphazardly - doing it God's way to the best of your ability
preparation - the upper room is a great example - the church was born in Acts 2 because of the preparation in Acts 1 - Jesus told them what to do - and they did it - for over a week - some did not stay - they were not present in Acts 2 - but those that followed through in doing it God's way were part of something amazing
what has God told you to do? maybe not audibly - but deep inside you know - you know it when you aren't doing it - you know it when you should be doing it - but you know
step up again - do it His way - in excellence - and see Him do something amazing in your life!
