a day in the life

in case you were wondering what a day in the life of a plant pastor looks like...

head out the door at 7am to part-time job (you will have a part-time job) - call wife and ask her to handle the top thing on your todo list that you didn't get to before going to bed late last night - before leaving work after 1/2 day shift, browse internet for items needed in church foyer and kid's church - negotiate with local paper about ad for upcoming launch and community event - stop at kinko's to pick up printing for the community event - remember that you forgot to email something to a friend that he asked for 2 weeks ago - stop at Lowe's to purchase drain pipe for gutters, supplies for kid's church remodeling and grommets to replace the ones you lost yesterday - hit full moon bbq drive through to pick up meat for new dream team family coming to house tonight and a moon dog and half moon cookie for your lunch - make bank deposit - remember you forgot to order acoustic panels for the sanctuary - meet pest control guys and painter at church - talk to daughter on phone about kid's church plans and colors for nursery - home to swap van for truck loaded with old paneling and carpet ripped out of the church foyer yesterday and take to dump - call dad to check on how his doctor's appointment went - call to arrange for teen challenge work crew to return next week - back to church to pick up mulch and take it to daughter's house to spread as promised last week - return home and edge lawn with weedeater - kill battery trying to start riding mower for first time this year - text son and ask him to bring battery charger home - use walk-behind mower until you're out of gas - quick shower - get idea for good blog about a day in the life of a plant pastor and determine to write it asap since you are so far behind on blog - enjoy a couple hours of down time eating and talking with new dream team family - since you haven't heard from local printer and it's 10:30 on friday night, place an online order for 5,000 stickers that have to be in hand by wednesday - reorganize todo list for busy day tomorrow - go to bed tired but content over the day's accomplishments - and excited that things are coming together for the launch in 3 weeks!

  1. I'm tired from just reading your blog. The funny thing is that I can hear you reading it and visualize you preaching a sermon from it.
